The Farm at Next Chance

Nigerian Dwarf Goats

Meet our three Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Vincent Van Goat aka “Vinny,” Lou, and Yoda. Goats are vegetarians who love to forage on trees and shrubs and pasture. Goats also eat hay, trees, leaves, pine needles, as well as most fruits and vegetables. Although we mostly keep our goats for companionship, we are also able to keep down our abundance of grass and brush—as well as feed them kitchen scraps (apple cores, carrot peels, and various fruit and veggie scrap).

Fun Fact: You can also feed these unordinary kitchen scraps to goats: banana peels, orange peels, and garlic skins.

Next Chance Garden

Here at Next Chance we built a combination of raised wood-chip beds and in ground garden plots for growing fruits, flowers, herbs, and vegetables. Everything we grow is used for the consumption of our residents, our animals, and to teach sustainable practices.

Farm Fresh Eggs

All of our eggs begin with healthy, happy hens. We guarantee each dozen is freshly laid & free range. Each dozen is sold for $6. All proceeds go to supporting our animals and providing sober activities for the residents at the home. Learn more about our hens and our eggs here.

Fun Fact: Our eggs vary both in color and size. This is due to the variety of breeds in our flock of laying hens. No dozen is ever exactly the same.

At Next Chance Farm we have ducks, turkeys, and laying hens of assorted varieties. Every day we are blessed with at least a dozen free-range whole grain fed chicken eggs. Come and see our colorful bunch.

We encourage composting and recycling at our recovery home. Not only did we create a daily house chore specifically for sorting recycling, we have also created a large outdoor compost station with 8 designated bins for all compostable waste. We felt it was our responsibility to take care of the amount of waste we create—especially with a house full of nine women.

We hope you see we have taken all the steps to encourage a healthy lifestyle for our residents…not just to live a sober life, but live one that is meaningful and promotes love in every area.
